I just came across the most wonderful vintage fashion and beauty website; Glamour Daze.
First impression
I’m used to period/vintage beauty pages having just a few images and a paragraph or two on the subject you’re trying to research but this site goes above and beyond. The attention to detail is refreshing.
What makes this site so great is the in-depth knowledge and information provided. Under each era category they’ve divided it into sub categories relevant to that period. For instance under 1920’s Fashion you’ll get the categories:
And under 1940’s Fashion you’ll find:
I love that each period has been addressed “personally”. Also if you click on a specific era without choosing a subcategory the page will display the most recent blog posts on that era uploaded by the page admins. It looks like a very active page and the information shared invaluable.
Fashion film archive
One of the main attractions on this page would have to be the Fashion Film archive. A YouTube channel including 125 videos from the specific fashion era’s. These have also been neatly categorized according to era or you can browse the playlists that have been put together on the YouTube channel. Footage of Lauren Brooks and Clara Bow from the 1920’s to coverage of the different vintage swimwear fashions. You need to go browse that section when you get a chance.
My favourite
My favourite section of the site would have to the Vintage Makeup Guides section. If you’re a makeup artist who likes vintage/period makeup you’ll love this!!
They’ve collected vintage makeup guides, restored their quality and compiled them into era specific guides.
How awesome is that?! You can download the era’s individually for $9,99 per guide or you can the bundle for $19.99. I’m definitely adding this to my wish list.
Oh thank you! That Glamour Daze site is really good =D
It’s a pleasure ^_^ I’m completely sucked in right now, only found it an hour ago and just had to share.
