Sugarpill – Burning Heart palette & Decora ChromaLust review and swatches

About a week ago I finally received my Sugarpill package (after it got lost the first time around).

If you know about Sugarpill you should know by now how much attention to detail there is to their packages. Included with my Burning Heart palette and Docora ChromaLust eye-dust was a sample of Stella (a loose eyeshadow I’ve been wondering about), a super glittery Sugarpill sticker and a beautiful gloss printed promo card (not incl. in the photo). Everything is beautifully and securely wrapped up in pink paper and shipped in a white box with the Sugarpill logo large on the outside. From the moment you receive it, it all feels so special and, to be honest, girly. It makes you excited for the product and you can’t wait to test it out.

And it’s great to be able to say that the package does not overshadow the actual product.

The eyeshadows are insane!

The bottom swatches are on the Nyx HD eyeshadow primer.

I’ve been using my Burning Heart palette and the Decora Chromalust for the last week and I’m truly in love with it! The colours are extremely vibrant and pigmented. The staying power is great and if used with a good primer(I use my Nyx HD lid primer), they do not fade or crease. When I get a chance I’ll swatch Stella as well.

I did note that Love+ was a lot harder than I anticipated but no less pigmented for it, sometimes you just have to scrape it a bit with your nail if you want more powder to come loose. Poison plum has an ever so slight shimmer to it which is just lovely and it’s also the most brittle of the shadows, though very well compacted so you don’t need to worry about it starting to crack up. Decora needs the primer underneath to really stand out, unless you want to use it very softly and i love the almost holographic shimmer in it.

From a photographer’s point of view, they photograph amazingly bright! The density is like nothing I’ve seen before. I even managed to get passable photos with my crappy Blackberry phone camera, where usually it doesn’t pick up any colour.

Left eye: Poison Plum and Decora
Right eye: Buttercupcake, Flamepoint and Love+

I can’t stress what a good investment these eyeshadows are to makeup artists who do creative/fantasy makeup! I’m definitely purchasing more of these for my own kit!

UPDATE: Poison Plum might stain your skin light pink when used with the Nyx HD Eyeshadow Base.

I already own Poison Plum and Buttercupcake and I was reluctant to order the palette because of that, but after seeing this I’m lusting the other two colours as well so I will probably be ordering them as soon as I have money, hahaha.

I absolutely love Flamepoint and Love+. They’re great for adding that extra little touch to some makeup looks. Especially when you sweep a thin layer of Flamepoint over a neutral eye, it warms up the colours beautifully πŸ™‚
